My M.F.A. is in still photography and I have never stopped making still images. My street videos are clearly informed by still photography. But I also have an interest in manipulating still images in basic, almost cinematic ways, like adding a time component or skewing the space within the frame.
Hanging of the Lincoln Conspirators is an attempt to add time to series of still images taken by Alexander Gardner. Since these photographs were taken from the same angle, I was able to merge this four frame movie into a single image. The result makes it appear as if the alleged conspirators are watching their own hanging.
Adoration of the Athlete was made shooting a tail gating event at the University of Mississippi. I shot a series of stills from multiple angles as if I was shooting a documentary film. I then took these images and blended them into long single image, making a kind of short film in a single long frame.
